My Favourite place in the world!

Learning Intention: To understand the purpose of descriptive language and vocabulary and how it can create visual picture in the readers mind.

The primary purpose of descriptive writing is to describe a person, place or thing in such a way that a picture is formed in the reader’s mind. Your task is to write a description of your favourite place in the world.

1. Include many vivid sensory details that paint a picture and appeals to all of the reader’s senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste when appropriate.

2. Try to use figurative language such as analogies, similes and metaphors to help paint the picture in the reader’s mind.

Draft the paragraph in your writing book and publish in a word document to then post onto the blog.
