  1. 1.I agree with the people in the image. Even though I am a big fan of soccer and the world cup, however I think the Brazilian government is not using their money wisely.
2.It makes me think about poverty and the villagers from the movie “Mirror Mirror”, the reason for thinking about those particular villagers was because they didn’t have enough food to eat all the time because the evil queen was spending all of their money on fancy balls, clothes, shoes, silverware and extra.
3.It makes me feel a bit sad that the Brazilian government is spending too much money on sporting events, but I’m happy about the fact that people are standing up for their rights and their opinions.
4.Because it costs a lot of money and the Brazilian government have other major problems, like the fact that over 30% of Brazil are homeless or disadvantaged or are in poverty!
5.It could change the fact that people are in poverty and what the rest of the world thinks of Brazil and its government. Say if less of Brazil’s people are in poverty, which could rise the amount of tourists that visit Brazil.
6.I think the main message is that a lot of Brazil’s people are homeless and disadvantaged and are in poverty, and the Brazilian government is just spending money on sporting events instead of the people that need help!

  2. 1. My initial thoughts when I saw the image were pretty upsetting. I got upset because there are people suffering in the world and other people just care about the world cup.

    2. The image makes me think of the homeless and the poor because the poor and the homeless hold up signs like that.

    3. The image makes me feel really sad. This is because some people don’t live a good life and the government can use the money for those people but they use it to make stadiums for the world cup.

    4. They are probably upset because a lot of money is going to waste. It could be going to people who are in need.

    5. It can have a huge impact because it could go on the news and then people would feel really scared of what is going to happen. The government could also be making them act better. It would also be hard for the homeless there.

    6. I think the main message behind this image is probably think about the homeless and poor before going and wasting money that could to people in need.

  3. 1.I honestly thought these people were correct. I have nothing against the world cup being in Brazil and I think Brazil was perfect for the world cup but I do believe they spent a lot of money. This was something I think the Brazilian government should have considered and now the Olympics are around the corner, Brazil needs to spend wiser others there will be lots of protests.
2.Firstly, this image makes me think about Brazils economic choices and how they are beneficial to the citizens. Brazil is very rich in some places but poor in others. You have people living in fancy apartments in the city and then people living in the slums on the hills and this is not good especially for the countries future. I think Brazil need to spend wiser to make people more even.
3.This makes me feel quite annoyed. I would feel extremely frustrated that my country has heaps of money but are not using it for its citizens. I understand someone had to have the world cup and Brazil was chosen but I think they could use other stadiums instead of building new ones. That would have been smarter.
4.The money that is needed to have a major sporting event is heaps. The money that needs to be spent is a good chunk of the country’s debt and if things need to be spent on other things, they might need to compromise and use built stadiums but Brazil made more and now there isn’t a lot of money for the poor. I understand why they are upset. The government needs to be smarter and be more empathetic to their people.
    5. A decision a country makes is one of the biggest decisions. It can impact people in many ways. One move and your country could find themselves in a big puddle. One move can change everything like the decision Brazil made. People are still in poverty because of Brazil’s decision.
6.The image really means the people want smarter. They want smart decisions that will help their country grow.

  4. 1.My initial thoughts were that the poor people in brazil were arguing and they were disappointed that the government of brazil decided to spend so much money on the FIFA World Cup and not on the poor peoples education or health.
2.This image makes me think about why the government doesn’t care for the poor people as much as a sporting event. I think this because the government has decided to spend so much money when that money could have been used on all the people living below the poverty line.
3.This image makes me have mixed emotions. My mixed emotions are that I feel sad because all the poor people getting disgraced liked that, I feel angry at the government because they spent all that money on a sporting event and none on the people living below the poverty line and I also feel happy because I now realize how lucky I am do be living a good and healthy life.
4.The people are upset because the government has been using millions of dollars when he could have spent that money on the people living below the poverty line.
5.The decisions of a nation can be bias, prejudice, life threatening or just plain selfish. Nobody should have to suffer the consequences of a bad decision from the government.
6.I think the main message behind this message is that selfishness is not a good thing to do and put yourself in other peoples shoes.

  5. 1.I thought and felt as if I was there watching the whole scene and feeling it all, watching people protesting for their rights and beliefs while there are people who won’t even listen to them.
2.This image makes me think that so many people who don’t even know each other can come together and fight for what they believe in. They might even be enemies but because of this one belief everyone can come together and fight for what they believe in.
3.This image makes me feel useless and cruel that there are people out there getting hurt mentally and physically and all I can do is sit and watch.
4.I think that they’re getting upset because there are people in Brazil who are living in poverty and Brazil is still lacking a lot of main points but because of major sporting events the Brazil government only pushes those problems away and spends billions of dollars on major sporting events when there are more important places or things that all that money could be used on.
5.If a part of a nation decide to do something that could have a bad look on the people living there than the government would try to painfully force people to behave so their image and dignity don’t collapse.
6.I think the main message behind is that people of Brazil are protesting for their beliefs and the Brazil government are ignoring and doing what they think is right.

  6. Image 1
    1. I can see grass, trees, rocks, water
    2. It is Iguazu Falls, Brazil
    3. I think it will change because Brazil is getting more populated and that means there will be more pollution. It even might not be there any more in 100 years because Brazil is building new things, so they will not have the waterfall anymore. We can use fewer cars and the things that pollute the air.
    Image 2
    1. I can see Jesus, houses, buildings, beach, mountains, grass, trees and boats.
    2. It is Rio De Jeniro, brazil
    3. I think all the grass that the mountains with green on it will not be their anymore because Brazil is getting more pollution. I think they should use fewer things that pollute the air and use different things instead of petrol.

  7. 1. What were your initial thoughts when you saw this image?
My initial thoughts on the photograph is that many people are disagreeing with the government hosting the FIFA World Cup because many people think that they should be using the millions of dollars on things they need such as hospitals and education. They also dislike the idea that they have been asking for things like hospitals and education for a long time but they haven’t gotten it but when people ask for them to build the stadiums and facilities for the world cup.
    2. Where was this image taken?
This image has been taken in the beautiful country Brazil.
    3. What does this image make you think about and why?
What the image makes me think about is how much Brazil cares about being popular instead of their countries health and wellbeing the way I know this because of the signs.
    4. How does the image make you feel and why?
The image makes me feel upset because they are not doing anything about this problem. They have been asking for so long and the people that ask them to host the FIFA world cup they say yes straight away.
    5. Why do you think the people are upset about having a major sporting event in Brazil?
I think that the people are upset because they used billions of dollars on the world cup.

    6. How many people in Brazil protested against the World Cup?
Thousands of people protested against the world cup.

    7. To what extent can the decisions of a nation impact the lives of people living there?
Well there are many decisions such as to save money to waste it on sports.
    8. What do you think is the main message behind this image and why?
I think the main message is help people before getting things so you become popular.

  8. 1. What were your initial thoughts when you saw this image?
That they should have not spent all that money on the Brazil 2014 world cup and 2016 Olympics

    2. Where was this image taken?
Outside one of the world cup stadiums in the capital of Brazil

    3. What does this image make you think about and why?
It makes me think why they are wasting all this money on sport when they could be helping the people of their country

    4. How does the image make you feel and why?
It makes me feel disappointed that the country wasted all their money on the wrong things

    5. Why do you think the people are upset about having a major sporting event in Brazil?
Because there are poor people all over Brazil with no healthcare or money or a place to live

    6. How many people in Brazil protested against the World Cup?
52% of Brazilians don’t support the world cup and 48% are for the world cup

    7. To what extent can the decisions of a nation impact the lives of people living there?
A lot of people have lost their houses and healthcare because they used all the tax payers’ money to build the stadiums that won’t ever get used again

    8. What do you think is the main message behind this image and why?
That Brazil shouldn’t have spent all their money on the world cup and Olympics

  9. 1. What were your initial thoughts when you saw this image?
My initial thoughts on this photo was first confused. I didn’t really understand the photo at first. When I read the words on the photo, I was really disappointed. The Brazil government is just is just spending money on useless stadiums, that they are probably not going to use after, and wasting their money. Whereas, if they put their money towards health and hospitals, more people will stay alive.

    2. Where was this image taken?
I believe this image was taken in Brazil.

    3. What does this image make you think about and why?
This image makes me think sad and angry because the World Cup in Brazil could’ve been held in a couple more years’ time instead of rushing. People are dying and not getting education just because of this. I feel devastated that innocent people are getting ill just because of the World Cup.

    4. How does the image make you feel and why?
I feel very annoyed because the World Cup has probably ruined a future for many children. They are wasting money on useless stadiums, instead of useful schools. A lot of people are protesting for this so why doesn’t the Brazil government change its mind?

    5. Why do you think the people are upset about having a major sporting event in Brazil?
People are getting upset about having this major sporting event because as you can see in the photo, they need money for hospitals and education. While the government is living in high class, people like this are not having fun. Just to think about the thought of not having enough hospitals for health just makes me furious.

    6. How many people in Brazil protested against the World Cup?
In my opinion, I think around 500,000 people are protesting, but this is the real number: 1,000,000+. That just makes me angry. People are homeless, dying and not getting enough education is not right. Everyone should have rights to do better things in Brazil.

    7. To what extent can the decisions of a nation impact the lives of people living there?
To the extant where people start to die. When people were protesting for the Brazil world cup, a teenage boy got shot. He didn’t deserve it. Violence isn’t the answer. People are fighting for their rights! Why can’t the Brazil government and the world just listen and volunteer.

    8. What do you think is the main message behind this image and why?
I think the main message is for people to speak up about their lives. They can’t let people just take away their education and health. Fight for the rights and believe that one day, it might change.

  10. 1. I felt sorry for the homeless and angry at the Brazilian government when I saw the image because he has not being using the money wisely, he should have put more money in poverty instead of the world cup.
    2. I think the image was taken near a stadium where the FIFA WORLD CUP was happening.
    3. The image made me think of the homeless people starving or begging for food across the street. It also made me think of people suffering, waiting to be helped in the hospital. This happened because of the FIFA world cup and the Brazilian government making the wrong choice.
    4. This image made me feel sad for the homeless and really angry at the Brazilian government because people are dying because they have no food, no shelter and no hospital to be treated at.
    5. People in Brazil are angry at having a major sporting event in Brazil because it is not helping to solve poverty and they think the Brazilian have made the wrong choice and should of concentrated on more important stuff like education and schools.
    6. I think thousands of people protested against the world cup because I think the whole country protested so there must be a lot of people who were there to protest.
    7. Whatever the government choices are, they will always impact on the nation.
    8. I think the main message behind this image is that if the government were in their shoes they would say the same as the nation.

  11. 1. What were your initial thoughts when you saw this image?

My initial thoughts were how sad it was how Brazil is focusing on tourists than its own people. Brazil is relying on flash, by bringing the World Cup and the Olympics, but it should be focusing on the people of the country.

    2. Where was this image taken?

I think this image was taken in front of the soccer stadium in Brazil. I think it was a good place to protest because it is where the cameras and journalists are so there message spreads around the world to let people know that they are struggling whilst the government doesn’t care.

    3. What does this image make you think about and why?

This image makes me think about why the Brazilian government doesn’t care about its own people, but it cares about the tourists. To that makes me think why don’t they elect a new government. They should choose normal people who have struggled so they know what it’s like so they can help the people.

    4. How does the image make you feel and why?

This image makes me feel grateful that I have a good government (sort of). It also makes me sad that they don’t do anything except make posters. They need to do something bigger to show the government that if they don’t help them, they’ll be overthrown.

    5. Why do you think the people are upset about having a major sporting event in Brazil?

The Brazilian people are upset that Brazil is having a major sporting event because so much money and work is going into this project that is only going to last a month and a half, but people who are there for a much longer time is forgotten about.

    6. How many people in Brazil protested against the World Cup?

About 12 cities protested that the world cup should not be in Brazil. I think more should have acted so they message was spread thoroughly all over the world so the Brazilian government would be put on the spot.

    7. To what extent can the decisions of a nation impact the lives of people living there?

The extent is very big because they are the leaders and speakers of the country which allows them to do whatever they like. It impacts the lives of the people living there because they must follow the orders of the gouvernment

    8. What do you think is the main message behind this image and why?

The main message is that the government is not very good and is focusing on less important things than its people.

  12. 1. What were your initial thoughts when you saw this image?
My initial thoughts when I saw the image was that they were protesting for the right reason. When they say, “We need money…” that means that they are close to living on the street or even already living on it.

    2. Where was this image taken?
I think this photo was taken in front of a stadium. It’d be the right place to take it because that’s where the World Cup was held so they’re trying to say that it was a waste of time and money building all of the stadiums.

    3. What does this image make you think about and why?
This image made me think, “Did the Brazilian Government have to say yes to hosting the World Cup and Olympics when their country is in poverty?” I think it has kind of wrecked the game of soccer!

    4. How does the image make you feel and why?
This image makes me feel empathetic. To see stacks of people in need of basic needs with the Government not doing much, it’s just sad. What if that happened in Australia? I don’t want to know…

    5. Why do you think the people are upset about having a major sporting event in Brazil?
It says it all in the second poster! Education and money are one of the many privileges Australians get every day, and most of Brazil are struggling to get them.

    6. How many people in Brazil protested against the World Cup?
12 cities protested against the world cup. They did it for a good reason, though.

    7. To what extent can the decisions of a nation impact the lives of people living there?
People were smashing TVs after Brazil lost to Germany 7-1 and many protests were held.

    8. What do you think is the main message behind this image and why?
    The government must see this!

  13. 1. What were your initial thoughts when you saw this image?

My initial thoughts when I saw this picture were that people were protesting about the world cup because they were living in poverty and the government spent a lot of money on the world cup instead of using the money for hospitals and education.

    2. Where was this image taken?

I believe this image was taken in front of one of the stadiums used for the world cup. It is fitting because the people are protesting about the world cup.

    3. What does this image make you think about and why?

It makes me think about soccer and people in poverty because the world cup is a soccer tournament but to make the stadiums and associating infrastructures cost a lot of money to build them instead the government could have used that money to get people out of poverty. I think a country that has a lot of inequality should not host the world cup and the Olympic games.

    4. How does the image make you feel and why?

The image makes me feel sad because there are security guards forming a ring around the stadium probably protecting it because the government might be scared that people might damage this stadium plus the people are showing the government to help but the government instead is hosting the Olympic games.

    5. Why do you think the people are upset about having a major sporting event in Brazil?
I believe that the people are upset about Brazil hosting a sporting mega event is because they spent a lot of money on stadiums and associating infrastructures instead of on hospitals and education.

    6. How many people in Brazil protested against the World Cup?

12 cities protested against the world cup. They did it for a good reason.

    7. To what extent can the decisions of a nation impact the lives of people living there?
Hugely because there were many protests and people were smashing tvs because brazil lost to Germany 7-1.

    8. What do you think is the main message behind this image and why?

The main message was that the government spent money on the world cup but didn’t spend it on hospitals and education
